Devulapalli Hanumantha Rao
Devulapalli Hanumantha Rao is a Hyderabad-based contemporary painter and sculptor whose artistic journey bridges creative expression, meditation, and spiritual inquiry. After spending more than fifteen years in the advertising industry, he embraced art as his full-time profession in 2010, dedicating himself to creating works that invite contemplation and inner stillness.
His sculptural works have been installed at prominent public and corporate spaces, including the P. V. Narasimha Rao Memorial and Saint-Gobain, while his paintings have found homes in private collections across India and internationally. Through numerous solo exhibitions and participation in group shows, Rao has established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary Indian art.
Deeply influenced by meditation and the philosophy of the universal self, Devulapalli Hanumantha Rao creates layered abstract compositions that evoke silence, balance, and introspection. His celebrated Vaishvanara series explores consciousness through subtle forms, textured surfaces, and harmonious colour palettes, encouraging viewers to move beyond the visible and experience art as a meditative space. Rather than depicting the external world, his works seek to reveal inner awareness, making each painting a quiet journey into reflection and self-discovery.
