Bimla Dutta brings to life the beloved childhood episode of Lord Krishna subduing Kaliya Nag. Using her favorite red hues and brushwork, she depicts Krishna’s bravery and divine power. The story unfolds as Krishna, grazing cows with his friends, discovers that Kaliya Nag has poisoned the Yamuna River. While retrieving a ball from the river, Krishna jumps in and binds the serpent, dancing upon its hoods. Though he could have destroyed Kaliya, the serpent’s wives plead for mercy, and Krishna instructs him to leave the Yamuna, restoring safety to the river and its inhabitants. Through this artwork, Dutta captures Krishna’s courage, compassion, and divinity, transforming a cherished legend into a striking visual experience.
